Preguntas frecuentes

Why is Iquitos a good destination to experience the Amazon rainforest?

Iquitos is one of the most important cities in the Amazon and is surrounded by rivers, jungle, and nature reserves. From here, it is easy to reach lodges, communities, and areas of great biodiversity. There is no road access, which maintains its Amazonian character. Therefore, it is an ideal starting point for those who want to live authentic experiences in the Peruvian jungle.

Tours in Iquitos and Puerto Maldonado typically include boat rides on the Amazon River and its tributaries, guided jungle hikes, wildlife and flora spotting, visits to local communities, and night excursions to observe animals. Depending on the tour, activities such as artisanal fishing, birdwatching, or visits to natural viewpoints may also be included. We combine these experiences so you can see the best of the area in the time you have available.

It is most common to dedicate at least 2 or 3 full days to the jungle to have a basic experience, featuring navigation, hikes, and a night excursion. If you want a deeper contact with nature and more opportunities to see wildlife, 4 to 5 days or more is recommended. Depending on the time you have, we can suggest the duration that best fits your travel style.

Iquitos can be visited year-round, but there are two main periods: the high-water season and the low-water season. During the high-water season, there are more flooded areas and boat transfers are more frequent. During the low-water season, more river beaches are exposed and there is more walking in the jungle. Each season has distinct advantages. We adjust the activities according to the current river level and weather conditions.

Safety is a priority on all our tours in Iquitos. We work with locally trained guides who know the climate, the trails, and wildlife behavior. We use boats and equipment suitable for the jungle and follow clear protocols for daytime and nighttime activities. Before each departure, we explain basic safety instructions so you can enjoy the experience with peace of mind.

The Iquitos region is one of the most biodiverse in the world. You can observe pink river dolphins, various species of monkeys, sloths, caimans, and many birds. On guided hikes, you will also learn about medicinal plants used for generations, as well as insects and smaller fauna. The enormous diversity of species makes each outing unique.
