Day 1: Cusco – Ausangate – Ananta
Your unforgettable 2-day Rainbow Mountain Peru adventure begins early at 4:10 a.m., when we pick you up directly from your hotel in Cusco. We’ll drive for approximately three hours to Alqatari, the starting point of our trek. There, our professional chef will prepare a delicious organic breakfast to give you the perfect start to your day.
We begin our hike at 4,900 meters (16,000 feet), surrounded by scenic landscapes, traditional Andean villages, and herds of llamas and alpacas grazing freely across the highlands.
Our first highlight will be the Pucacocha viewpoint, offering breathtaking views of the Ausangate glacier and its stunning turquoise lagoons. After admiring this incredible natural wonder, we’ll return to our campsite where our chef will prepare a freshly made lunch with local ingredients.
In the afternoon, you’ll have time to immerse yourself in local culture, learn about Andean traditions, or simply relax while enjoying the beauty of the mountains. As the sun sets over Vinicunca Peru, our team will set up comfortable tents at our mountain campsite. Enjoy a warm dinner prepared by our chef and, if you’re up for it, even play a friendly game of soccer at over 4,700 meters (15,420 feet)!

Day 2: Pucaccocha – Condor Pass – Alpaca Pass – Andean Campsite
The long-awaited highlight of your 2-day Rainbow Mountain trek has finally arrived!
We’ll gently wake you up at 3:20 a.m. with a warm cup of coca tea or freshly brewed coffee, followed by a hearty Andean breakfast to fuel your climb.
Our adventure begins with the first ascent to Warmi Saya Pass (5,150 m / 16,896 ft), offering panoramic views of the majestic Andes. As we descend through the stunning mountain scenery, we’ll pass beautiful high-altitude lakes before reaching our main destination — the world-famous Vinicunca Peru, also known as the Rainbow Mountain.
You’ll be among the first travelers to arrive at Rainbow Mountain Peru, enjoying a peaceful sunrise surrounded by colorful peaks and pure mountain silence. Take your time to capture unforgettable photos while your expert guide shares fascinating stories and Andean legends that bring this sacred landscape to life. At 5,200 meters (17,060 ft) above sea level, you’ll truly feel the power and spirit of the Andes.
After soaking in the beauty of Vinicunca, we’ll begin our two-hour descent back to camp, where your chef will be waiting with a well-deserved traditional Andean lunch — a perfect way to celebrate the success of your trek.
Finally, we’ll drive back to Cusco in our private van, arriving around 3:30 p.m., where we’ll drop you off at your hotel — marking the end of an unforgettable 2-day Rainbow Mountain Peru adventure.

- Professional guides: highly trained Local guides for the high mountains and the history of the Incas.
- Briefing: We will have an information session and briefing held in our office or hotel at 6:30 PM on the night before your trip starts. Briefings will last 20-30 minutes but we are always available for questions. You will receive a travel bag at this briefing, the contents of the bag must not exceed 13 lbs and must include a sleeping bag and air mattress.
- Professional cook: Our cook will make all the meals during the 2-day Rainbow Mountain trip.
- Horses: Our horses will carry all the camping gear during the two-day trip.
- Food: You will get two breakfasts, two lunches, two snacks, and one dinner. We can also accommodate different dietary restrictions like vegan, lactose intolerance, vegetarian, pescatarian, and more.
- Tents: Two-person tents are given to one person, and three-person tents are given to two people.
- All entrance fees are included in this tour.
- Private transportation: We provide transportation from your hotel to the trailhead and back to your hotel in Cusco after the hike on the second day.
- Water: From your first day you will be provided with water for your journey. This water is boiled, and it is necessary to bring personal water bottles.
- Travel bags: Our travel bags will be delivered to you, where you will carry your clothes and other personal items, sleeping bags and a mat. With a maximum weight of 7 kilos.
- First Aid: Our team is trained in first aid. In case of emergency we follow an emergency plan to provide the fastest possible attention.
- Extras: We believe that personalized attention is a plus for us, so small details are very important. We are committed to creating the most authentic experience towards Machu Picchu.
- Satellite Phones: For us security is very important, and keeping our customers safe is our priority. We have satellite phones for emergencies or any situations that may require them.
- Taxes and Fees: All taxes and permit fees associated with this trek are included in the listed price.

- Rentals: Every traveler needs to have their own sleeping bag when camping. Inflatable air mattresses and walking sticks are recommended. These items are not part of the tour package so if you do not wish to bring any of own the above items, you may rent them following these ratest: Inflatable air mattress : $ 15 Walking sticks: $ 10 Sleeping bag: $ 20
- Backpacks for the Day: the agency does not provide backpacks, so you must bring your own. Note; Machu Picchu does not allow backpacks over 25 lb.
- Tips: Tips are always welcome, and should be based on your travel satisfaction (not mandatory).
- Travel insurance: Travel insurance is recommended, but not mandatory. Normally many people get sick with altitude sickness, so we recommend adapting 1 day or 2 days before starting a trek.

Only group services are offered for the Ausangate Trek to Machu Picchu (from 2 persons). Then, we’ll open this service for you with a minimum of 2 people.
